What to do if the person doesn’t follow the Non-Contact Order

You should tell the police if the offender doesn’t follow the conditions of the Order or if they act in a way that’s inconsistent with the Order.

Unless the offender has a reasonable excuse, it will be a breach of the Non-Contact Order and a criminal offence.

What happens to the person when they breach a Non-Contact Order

If the offender breaches the Non-Contact Order they can be jailed for up to 2 years or fined up to $5000.

As well as being charged with breaching a Non-Contact Order, the offender can also be charged with any other crime committed at the same time, such as assault, theft, or misuse of a phone.
