How you can represent yourself in a criminal proceeding

This section outlines how you can represent yourself in a criminal proceeding in the High Court. To read more, please select the situation below that best applies to you:

• you have been charged with a category 4 offence
• you have been charged with a protocol offence and a High Court judge has made an order (under section 68(external link) of the Act) for your proceeding to be tried in the High Court
• you have been charged with a category 2 or 3 offence and a High Court judge has made an order (under section 70(external link) of the Act) that you be tried in the High Court
• you are appealing a decision made by a District Court judge or you have gained leave to appeal a decision of a community magistrate
