Overview: A Welcome Guide has been created as resource for newly appointed court interpreters. Existing interpreters may also find the content in this document useful.
The Welcome Guide will provide you with everything you need to know to help you prepare for interpreting in courts and tribunals. It sets out:
how to familiarise yourself with court and tribunals interpreting before you first come to court
what to do when you are contacted for a booking
what to do when you come to court
how to get paid
brief information on the types of courts and tribunals you may work in
other information such as updating your contact details and what we will do if there is a complaint
If you have any questions when you are at court or tribunal, you should raise these with the Court Registry Officer (CRO) at the main service counter or the Court Manager.
