Specialist family violence service providers

If you've identified a serious family violence concern, you'll need to refer the person to a specialist family violence service. It's a good idea to take the time to find out what services are available in your area, before you need them. To help you get started, and find agencies who can provide support for the person, there are some government-funded websites that maintain listings of specialist providers.

National services

The It's Not OK website provides links to national services, including the Women's Refuge and Shine free helplines, Shakti (specialising in services for people of Asian, African and Middle Eastern origin), Age Concern, the National Network of Stopping Violence, and the What's Up national helpline and online service.

Local services

The Ministry of Social Development's family services directory enables you to search for a specialist service in your area, and can be tailored for a wide range of social services, including family violence.
