The changes are part of the Ministry’s response to Te Korowai Ture-ā-Whānau: the final report of the Independent Panel examining the 2014 family justice reforms. The report recommended the Ministry create quality, accessible information to help participants make informed decisions about Care of Children matters.
The changes were informed by extensive user testing to ensure the webpages are fit for purpose, inclusive, and reflect the diversity and needs of Family Court participants.
More than 120 people from the community provided feedback and lived experience to help shape the new webpages and resources.

What’s next?
We are now working on developing new resources for tamariki and rangatahi. This includes providing resources to help them better understand the care of children process, their rights to participate in this process, and where to go for help.
