Rent reduction for commercial leases

The Government has made amendments to the Property Law Act 2007 to require the reduction of a 'fair proportion' of rent to commercial leases affected by COVID-19 restrictions, where the lease does not already include a similar provision.

This section provides:

• a summary of the changes requiring a rent reduction for commercial leases
• guidelines to assist parties in determining a 'fair proportion'.
