The Family Violence Risk Assessment Management Framework provides a common approach to screening, assessing and managing family violence risk across all organisations and practitioners to ensure there is ‘no wrong door’ for victims, perpetrators, family and whānau to get the help they need. It builds a common understanding of risk factors and the dynamics of family violence.
It was developed with input from the family violence sector. During August and September 2016, a consultation process resulted in 120 online submissions and feedback from 190 people at regional workshops. The Framework was revised considerably as a result.
The Framework is now available for the sector to consider how it could be applied in various situations. We are also working with some selected provider groups to develop supporting practice guidance. Risk assessment tools and training will also be developed.
