What to expect at court

When you first arrive at court, you should expect to go through court security.

Once you’re inside the court, ask the staff for help if you’re unsure about what to do or where to go. They’ll be wearing name badges.

What you can do without coming to a court

A number of things that used to be done only at court can now be done elsewhere. Examples are:

• Register a birth or death(external link)
• Pay a fine
• Make a claim to the Disputes Tribunal(external link)
