A new video looking to improve understanding of the District Court’s Young Adult List court has been produced.
Focused on supporting all participants aged 18 to 25 years of age to meaningfully participate and understand each stage of the court process, this judicially-led kaupapa was first piloted at Porirua District Court in 2020.
It recognises the unique needs and vulnerabilities of victims, those facing charges and their whānau in this younger age group by adapting standard court processes.
Ultimately, this ensures everyone who comes to court are seen, heard and understood.
The Young Adult List is currently operating at Porirua, Hamilton and Gisborne District Court locations, with plans to roll out to locations in other parts of the country.
